The town caters well to families with an array of activities available including camel rides, a mini golf course, skateboard park, playground facilities, and various water sports such as windsurfing, sailing, and kiteboarding, fishing, charter boat services, quad bike tours and much more.

  Ocean Park - Oceanarium

Guided tours are a must as they are extremely informative and excellent for families and tourists alike.

Hamelin Pool Stromatolite Hamelin Pool

Just a short drive this spectacular area is a monument to some of the earliest life on earth where living marine Stromatolite fossils are located, this is only one of three places in the world where they can be found and it is estimated that they are between 2000 and 3000 years old. This finding cemented Shark Bays listing as a World Heritage area.

A wooden boardwalk allows tourists to venture out to view the stromatolites without damaging them.

  Dirk Hartog Island

Dirk Hartog Island is one of Australia's most remote eco-tourim holiday destinations and it is also Western Australia's largest island with Denham being the point of embarkation for travel to the island.

The island is home to some of the most amazing animals and scenery that Australia and indeed the world, has to offer.  The island boasts three rare bird species, ancient fossilized coral reefs, several threatened reptile species, the biggest loggerhead turtle nesting ground in the south east Indian basin and access to one eighth of the world's Dugong population.

Dirk Hartog Island is named after a Dutch Capitan, Dirk Hartog, who was the first Eurpean to be recorded as landing on Australian soil in 1616.

Monky Mia Dolphins Monkey Mia

Just a 30 minute drive north-east of Denham is Monkey Mia, home of the famous friendly bottlenose dolphins that visit the shoreline most days to mingle with visitors.

Monkey Mia receives visitors from all parts of the world and is situated in a pristine bay with pearling and eco-tourism tours available.  It is a location which has been featured in National Geographic and has been the subject of several scientific studies.

This is a must-see for families and nature lovers and a unique experience that has not been documented anywhere else in the world.

  Eagle Bluff

Located approximately 20 km south from Denham, this area is named after the Osprey or Sea Eagle which nests on the rock island just offshore.  It boards a boardwalk which extends over the ocean and from this you can see the Useless Loop salt pile and many marine creatures.

.

Boating and Fishing in Shark Bay Boating & Fishing

Denham is home to world class fishing.  Angling opportunities are numerous whether by boat or on the shore.  A public ramp is available for those wishing to launch their own vessel or you can choose from several fishing charter businesses within town if you do not have access to a boat but wish to partake in this relaxing activity.

Boat based fishing can provide catches of large Pink Snapper, Groper, Cod, Mackerel and Coral Trout.  Bluebone groper can be caught along with Norwest Snapper around rocky areas further into the bay.  At Steep Point Narrow Barred Spanish Mackerel are often the targetted species but Sailfish, Tuna, Cobia and Yellow Tailed Kingfish are also commonly caught, making this area one of the most exciting shore-based fishing destinations in Australia.

For those wishing to fish off the beach, fishing in Francois Peron National Park and other areas around Peron Peninsula will land you Whiting, Tailor and Flathead and is an area where you can have the whole beach to yourself with not a sole in sight.
